The film archives contains over 26,000 films from different eras and in different formats. Of particular interest are a collection of Torino’s silent films, which is one of the world’s most important in terms of quantity. The archives also contains a huge assortment of trailers and a considerable collection of nitrate films
This astounding collection allows us to relive the history of cinema from its origins to the present day, thanks to its assortment of Italian silent films and a rich series of films with sound, ranging in genre from historical films, documentaries and melodramas to comedy. The collection tells not only the story of the Italian film industry but that of the world in general.
The collections include roughly 11,000 35mm films, 5,000 16mm films, 9,000 trailers and a plethora of titles in other formats including 8mm and 9.5mm. Around 5% of the archives is on nitrate film and 10% are silent films. |
