The fund is composed of a number of different series of documents that reflect the expansion of the joint-stock company Stefano Pittaluga and other companies it has taken over through the years. Thanks to the companies’ files (articles, accounts, reports, contracts for the rights or hire of films, etc.), it is possible to study the company’s organization and financial management structure. The dossiers of Ufficio Edizione Films, which are principally formed of the files of the Italian Cinematographic Union (UCI, taken over by Pittaluga in 1926) and which gathered information relative to the filmmaking activity of various nations, provide a great deal of information on national and international films that were distributed in Italy in the 1920s and the first half of the 1930s.

This is a collection of both original documents which are contemporary to the different versions of the film (brochures, articles, musical scores, various files etc.) and of more recent materials. The collection was started to gather documentation pertaining to the film Cabiria for the publication of the book “G. Pastrone, Cabiria: Visione storica del III secolo a.C.” (Torino, National Cinema Museum, 1977.) The material was later used for various projects including the restoration of the film.
