TorinoFilmLab is a new one-year international laboratory that, through training, development and funding, supports emerging filmmakers from all over the world who are making their first or second feature film.
TorinoFilmLab began in 2008 with an annual budget of 1,000,000 Euros to cover all its activities; these funds are guaranteed by the
Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Piedmont Region and the City of Torino.
In tandem with the Torino Film Festival, TorinoFilmLab is promoted by the major film institutions of Torino and Piedmont, the National Cinema Museum and the Film Commission Torino Piemonte, in partnership with Script&Pitch Workshops, a training course supported by the MEDIA Programme of the E.U.
Training and Development take place at the same time during the year and conclude with a final event dduring the Torino Film Festival, when the Development Awards are presented. These Awards permit the winning filmmakers to continue developing their projects during the next year with the Development Programme.
A jury composed of the TorinoFilmLab’s Advisory Board assigns the Production Awards (Funding) to the best projects from Development.
