Magnificent visions. Rotaie by Mario Camerini, with a live soundtrack April 28 2010
Cinema Massimo, Torino
The National Museum of Cinema presented its seventh event in the MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS) permanent festival of restored film on Wednesday, the 28th of April 2010 at 8.45 p.m. at Cinema Massimo’s Screen 3.
The evening featured a restored copy of Mario Camerini’s Rotaie (Rails). This copy of the film was restored by the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana. As this was the Roman film director’s last silent film, a symbol of the so-called Italian film renaissance following the production crisis of the late 1920s, the film was provided with a live soundtrack by Paolo Spaccamonti (guitar, special effects), Marco Piccirillo (double bass), Ramon Moro (trumpet, tenor horn, special effects) and Dario Bruna (drums, objects, electronics).
